The acoustic guitar is a well-loved instrument, and strumming its strings is a common method for creating sound. However, what if we could produce sound in alternative ways?
In “Mutant,” all of the sounds were sampled from a single acoustic guitar. I aimed to uncover unexpected and unique sounds by plucking, scratching, knocking, and rubbing the guitar, utilizing its original textures of metal and wood, and then modifying the sounds with a computer.
This piece explores the idea of seeking the extraordinary. The music begins peaceful and serene, but gradually becomes chaotic and frenzied by the end.
